Stanley P. Dobson age 75 passed away at his home in Auburntown, Tn. on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 from complications of diabetes.
Stanley was the son of Ruby Mitchell Dobson and John Pierce Dobson and was born in Davidson County, Tn. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Bridges Dobson and Elvis Randolph Dobson.
He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Janice Freeman Dobson; two sons, Scott Dobson and wife Abbie and Travis Lee Dobson, all of Auburntown; one grandson Lucas Lee Dobson and two step grandsons, Cody Davenport and Colton Richardson and one great granddaughter, Adelynn Faith Weddington. Stanley was “Pa” to the following very special adopted family members: Karen Smithson, Kelsy Eatherly, Sandra and Chris Vaden, John Bilbrey, Lauren Smith, Andy and Alivia Pendelton and children and many others who felt loved and at home at the Dobson’s house.
Stanley grew up in Donelson, Tn. and graduated from Donelson High School in 1963. He and Janice married Feb. 12, 1965 and began their long and adventurous life together. They travelled all over the United States while Stanley was an over the road truck driver and made many exciting memories to cherish. They owned and operated several different businesses together but their true love was always farming, raising dairy and beef cattle, Appaloosa horses and cutting hay. The Dobson Family produced the first 7 generation Appaloosa to Appaloosa bred horse that is the closest thing to a Purebred Appaloosa horse in the whole world.
Stanley served as a past President of the Wilson County Livestock Association, President of the Tennessee State Appaloosa Horse Club and a Member of the National Appaloosa Horse Club Breeders Committee at one time. He served several years as a Deacon for Shiloh Baptist Church and for over two years was Administrator of Elections for Cannon County, Tn. Stanley was a friendly outgoing person who never met a stranger and he enjoyed volunteering and working with the Feed America Food Distribution of Murfreesboro, Tn.
At his instructions, Stanley will be cremated and a short time in the future his family will hold a Celebration of Stanley’s Life at their farm in Auburntown with family and friends. A notice will be posted soon with details about the Celebration.
