Murfreesboro Police Make Arrest In General Rains Murder

Tuesday 4 December 2007 A Cannon County woman was arrested Tuesday night by Murfreesboro Police following an indictment from a Rutherford County Grand Jury. Tina Williamson 39 of South McCrary Street Woodbury is facing murder and robbery charges in connection with the death of General Jack Rains of Murfreesboro. Law enforcement officials listed Williamson as an acquaintance of Rains. Rains was a former state trooper and at one time served as Police Chief of Woodbury. General “Jack” Rains 83 resided on McFarlin Road off Old Woodbury Highway in Murfreesboro. Rains was found shot to death at his kitchen table September 1st. He lived alone his wife was a patient in a care facility. Grand jurors issued a sealed indictment this week charging Williamson with first-degree murder felony murder and especially aggravated robbery. No other details have been released. The investigation is ongoing. Williamson was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where Circuit Court Judge Don Ash ordered her held without bond until her court date on December 17th. Murfreesboro Police are conducting the investigation and are assisted by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Woodbury Police Department.
