More details have been obtained in the shooting incident late Monday night by Cannon County Sheriff’s deputies that left a man dead.  The victim of the shooting is now known as Richard Butcher of 2044 Petty Gap Road.  WBRY news has also learned the name of the two Cannon County Sheriff’s deputies but has been requested to hold those names until the Tennessee Bureau Of Investigation fully conducts their investigation of the case.  According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the deputies were in the area responding to a report of stolen scrap metal.  The suspect was supposed to have been in a black pickup truck.  according to TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm.  The deputies stopped after they saw Butcher driving crazy in his yard in a black truck.  The deputies then approached the man and open fire on him after he tried to run them over with his truck.  The suspect was hit by the gunfire and later transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died. The TBI will turn over its findings once finished to the district attorney for further review.  The investigation is expected to take more than a week.  Butcher was scheduled to be in Cannon County General Sessions Court Tuesday morning to answer to a domestic assault charge.
