Lonia Mai Tate, age 97, of Woodbury passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. She was a native of Cannon Co.
Survivors include her children, Jimmy & Brenda Tate, Windol & Joann Tate, both of Woodbury, Joel & Marlyn Tate of McMinnville, Gayle & Karen Tate, and Jeanne & Mike Melton, both of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Steven & Meagan Tate, Angela Mullinax, Whitney, Christopher, & Nickolas Tate, Heather Melton, & Hope Young; Great Grandchildren, Kaylee Hayes, Laney Mullinax, Dani Young, Michael & Tate Melton-Green. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Ms. Tate was preceded in death by her parents, Smith Bogle & Altie Summars Bogle; Husband, Malcolm Tate; Granddaughter, Camia Hayes; and Siblings, Melvin, Medford, Robert, Willie, Clarence, Bonnie Ray, Dorthina Bogle, & Pauline Hayes.
She was a charter member of the Sycamore Baptist Church and was an excellent seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Sycamore Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 9 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2018, until 12 PM Thursday at the funeral home, and will lie in state from 1 to 2 PM Thursday at Sycamore Baptist Church.
