Lions and Lionettes Stay Undefeated Against Coffee County

The Cannon County Lionettes have not lost to the Lady Red Raiders of next door Coffee County since the 2007-2008 basketball season.  That streak continued last night as the Lionettes shut down post player Alania Lusk and sharp shooting guard Katie Reid and posted a 58-42 win over the team from Manchester.  Abbey Sissom continued to lead the Lionettes in scoring with a game high 23 points.  Abby Jakes helped with 10 points while Jordan Hollis added 8 for the Lionettes who are 3-0 The Cannon County Lions are off to their best start in recent history.  For the first time in over ten years, the Lions have started 3-0.  Last night at Robert A Harris Gymnasium, Coffee County would not roll over although they would never retake the lead since the  first quarter as Cannon County won the night cape 50-41.  Cory Henley got off to a slow start scoring wise, but more than made up for it in the 4th quarter scoring 11 points including a 10 for 10 free throw shooting performance.  Henley had 19 over all and another good game in the post by Tanner Larson’s 9.  The Lions basketball teams will get to enjoy Thanksgiving with their families before hitting the hardwood again Friday night in the opening evening of the Mitch Wilson State Farm Classic.  Lionettes are scheduled to take the floor Friday night at 6:30 against Shelbyville with the boys game to follow
