Lions and Lionettes Grab Wins Against Franklin County Friday

The Cannon County Lionettes got out to another fast start and built a big lead Friday night before coasting to a 54-43 win against Franklin County.  The Lionettes got on the boards early limiting Franklin County to one shot opportunities building a 18-5 end of first quarter score.  The inside game of the Lionettes provided a key factor in the 11 point win as Autumn King scored 12 points in the paint and Hailey Mooneyham provided quality minutes off the bench.  Kelli Davis netted 13 to lead the Lionettes in scoring.  Cannon County goes into this week with a 2-0 record. Three players finished in double figures for the Cannon County Lions and two came one point shy of accomplishing that stat as the Cannon County Lions gave fans a glimpse of what the future holds as the Lions used a smothering press to take over a close ballgame as the Lions beat Franklin County 72-57.  In the first half, neither team could distance themselves from the other as there were 9 lead changes and 8 ties in the game itself.  However in the third quarter after quickly evaporating a 8 point Rebel lead, the Lionettes showed a full court press that quickly turned things around giving Cannon the lead and never looking back.  Josh Ruehlen led all scorers with 17, while Garrett McReynolds and Jacob Nave each added 16 in the win.  Marshall McReynolds along with Austin Martin finished with 9 points each.  Cannon County is now 1-1.  Both teams will play on the road to nearby Manchester at Coffee County High School Friday starting at 6:00
