Joseph Chad Hunter, 52, passed into the arms of our Savior, at 10:35 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2013. Chad had valiantly battled a particularly virulent and aggressive form of cancer for a short time and was in the care of Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN.
He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, ordained pastor, worship leader, student/youth pastor, disciple of Christ, friend, teacher, leader, comforter, missionary, avid outdoorsman, musician, song writer and vocalist.
Chad was born in Shelbyville, Bedford Co., TN on April 23, 1970, and graduated from Cannon Co. High School, Woodbury, TN in 1988. He received an Associate Degree from ITT Technical Institute.
He was called by God at a very early age, answered the call and has followed Christ ever since. There is an unending number of people whose lives he touched and whose lives were enriched by knowing him. He served as Youth Minister at Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN, Worship Leader at Stonebrook Church in Smyrna, TN, and was serving as Worship Leader and Youth Pastor at Providence Baptist Church in Nolensville, TN. Chad had made several mission trips helping build houses for the less fortunate in Juarez, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, and helped an orphanage in Haiti.
He loved paddle boarding on the lake and in the Gulf, and hiking, particularly on the Appalachian Trail with fellow pastors Joe Stegall and John Whitenack. Another favorite was leading the youth groups on trips to Fiery Gizzard.
Chad is survived by wife, Angela Lee; sons, Wesley James Hunter and his wife Abigail Ward Hunter, Jonah Alexander Hunter; daughter, Brilee Rae Hunter; and grandson, Oliver James Hunter. He is also survived by his father, Richard Allen Hunter (Glenda) of Woodbury, TN; and by brothers, Scott Allen Hunter and Russell Blake (Ashley) Hunter. He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Rae Locke Hunter. His passing is grieved by his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and by his wonderful church family.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, March 18, 2023, at the Providence Baptist Church, 1668 Sunset Rd, Brentwood, TN (it is actually in Nolensville, TN) with services to begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at 1 p.m. at: the Nolensville Cemetery in Nolensville, TN. Presiding over services will be Pastors Joseph Stegall and John Whitenack. Arrangements by Woodbine Funeral Home-Hickory Chapel of Nashville, TN.
