John Lenzy House, 2013 Cannon County High School graduate, has recently been selected as a member of the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2015 season. The Music City Drum and Bugle Corps will be taking the field this summer with Drum Corps International’s elite during a tour that will take them throughout an eight state area. Music City Drum and Bugle Corps was established in 2008 by the non-profit organization Music City Youth in the Arts. The inaugural season in 2009 was made up of 47 members. This year they have 150 plus members. 2012 and 2013 Music City placed in the top 25 in DCI’s World Class Semi-finals. Music City Drum and Bugle Corps provides its members with opportunities to develop their skills as well as their character through marching arts. The drum and bugle corps activities combine artistic training and physical fitness in a unique way that has allowed generations of participants to develop a responsible work ethic and a spirit of team work. Drum corps provide entertainment to millions through live performances, not to mention allowing thousands of high school and college students the opportunity to share their talents.
Each member is required to pay a participation fee to help pay for music, equipment, transportation, housing and instruction. Any amount of donation is welcomed. John Lenzy is the son of John and Rena House. He is the grandson of GL and Kay Peeler of Woodbury, the late Betty Hill of Nashville and late Sam House of Symrna. John Lenzy is currently a student at Motlow Community College. He participates with the Motlow Community Jazz Band and Chorus. While a student at CCHS, John Lenzy was a member of the Marching Band, Chorus, Jazz Rock and Blues Band, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, Cross Country Team, Outdoors Club, Soccer, 4-H Honor Club and All-Stars. He was awarded the Burton McFerrin Music Award, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Award and 4-H Vol State.
