On Thursday, February 4, 2021, Jean Kirkland, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She was 91 years of age.
Jean was born in Bradyville, Tennessee and moved to Nashville after high school where she met and married Edwin Kirkland. They celebrated over 54 years of marriage. She loved her family and friends. They were lifelong members of Brentwood Hills Church of Christ. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Kirkland of Nashville, her parents Oren and Nannie Bush of Woodbury, brother Ray Bush of McMinnville, brother-in-law Jimmy Moss of Woodbury, and brother-in-law Kelly Simmons of Woodbury. She is survived by her three children, Eddie Kirkland (Hope), Elaine Lee (Dave), and Eric Kirkland; grandchildren, Elizabeth Burch (Matt), Katherine Kirkland, Michael Lee, Lauren Lee, and Kayta Kirkland; and great grandchildren Sophie Burch and Hayes Burch.
She will miss her brothers, Clyde Bush (Kathyrn), Maurice Bush (Helon), Dale Bush (Mary Lynn), Robert Bush (Carolyn) and sisters Carolyn Moss and Faye Smithson (Drennan) all of Woodbury; sister-in-law Joy Bush of McMinnville; sisters-in-law Peggy Beasley of Pulaski and Polly Leopard of Athens, AL; and her many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
A private family funeral will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Woodbury on Monday, February 8th at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bradyville Church of Christ or the Short Mountain Bible Camp.
