G.L. Peeler, age 81, of Woodbury passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at St. Thomas Stones River ER. He was a native of Cannon County.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kay Estela Reed Peeler of Woodbury; Children, Marilyn Peeler Poteete of Woodbury & Rena (John) Peeler House of Woodbury; 7 Grandchildren, Lawanna Peeler, Sheenia (Jeremy) Grant, Latisha Poteete, John Lenzy House, Elizabeth House, Emily House, & Elana House; 9 Great Grandchildren, Madelynne Bogle, Samuel Holloway, Austin, Devin, Jack, Noah, & Andie Jane Grant, Georgia & Willobell Poteete; Nephews, Billy (Karen) Cook & Ray (Betty) Todd; and Niece, Mary Lou (Darrell) Goins.
G.L. was preceded in death by his parents, George Lee and Hessie Moore Peeler; daughter, Beverly Peeler; sisters, Grace and Nora Cook.
He was a member of the Sugar Tree Knob Church of Christ and was a retired locksmith with the State of Tennessee and a farmer. He was a member of the Army National Guard 194th Engineer Brigade E5. G.L.’s grandfather bought the farm in 1895, where G.L. was born, raised, and lived. You could always find G.L. reading his Bible. He enjoyed hunting and wildlife and had turned into a Netflix junkie watching documentaries. He loved to teach his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 2 pm Friday, November 30, 2018 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Alsup and Bro. Billy Henson officiating. Interment will follow in Peeler Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3 pm until 8 pm Thursday, November 29, 2018.
Pallbearers include John House, John Lenzy House, Jeremy Grant, Bryce Poteete, Micah Bogle, & Jamie Holloway.
Honorary Pallbearers include Jim Stone, Sam Holloway, Jack Grant & Noah Grant.
