Family Files Two Civil Suits In Jack Rains Death

Tuesday 15 January 2008The family of murdered retired Tennessee Highway Patrolman Jack Rains have filed a lawsuit in Cannon County against the woman accused of murdering him. The lawsuit was filed in Cannon County Chancery Court and concerns real estate that Rains allegedly transferred to Tina Williamson the woman accused of killing him prior to his death. In the lawsuit the Rains family alleges that Williamson used “undue influence” over Rains to get him to transfer the property to her. The group is also involved in a lawsuit in Rutherford County over a $100 000.00 certificate of deposit that had the name of both Rains and Williamson on it. The Rains family is trying to get the courts in both counties to order the funds and property transferred to the surviving members of Rains. Rains body was discovered late last summer in Rutherford County. Sheriff’s deputies have charged Williamson with murder in connection with the incident. Williamson filed a response to the lawsuit claiming that the survivors have no standing to bring the lawsuit. The matter is set for a jury trial in August.
