DeKalb County Escapee Added To Top Ten

Friday 19 October 2007 The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is adding a DeKalb County escapee to its list of Top Ten Most Wanted fugitives. Toby Lynn Young 28 is wanted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for Felony Escape the Cannon County Sheriff’s Office for Failure to Appear and the Board of Probation and Parole for Parole Violation. In September 2004 Young led law enforcement on a high speed chase in a stolen van running several vehicles off the road and slamming into a patrol car. After a short foot pursuit Young was arrested and charged with Theft over $1 000 two counts of Aggravated Assault Reckless Endangerment Felony Evading Criminal Conspiracy and Driving on a Revoked License. Young was being held at the DeKalb County Jail awaiting his court date when he and another inmate overpowered a correctional officer and escaped. Young has displayed violent tendencies and is known to evade arrest. He has ties to Smithville and may still be in the area. Young is a white male 5’7” tall 180 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his back left shoulder and right leg. He sometimes goes by the alias Roy Dale Mathis.
