David Young

Mr. David “Ruff” Young, 22, of Bradyville passed away unexpectedly on October 16, 2020.  He was born in Murfreesboro, TN on October 31, 1997.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Janice Young and Jimmy Driver, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Angel (Bobby Murphy) Hernandez of Bradyville, father, Brad Young of Alabama, grandmother, Faye Driver of Bradyville, brothers, Bradley Young of Bradyville and Dillion Young of Woodbury, sisters, Cheyenne Black of Auburntown, Maria (James Porter) Funes, Virginia Hernandez and Lexi Driver all of Bradyville, and Cherish Thomas, aunts and uncles, Rebecca Driver, Connie Mejia, Jimmy Driver, Jr., and Scottie Young, the love of his life, Autumn Akey, great aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins and friends.  He was also looking forward to becoming an uncle in the near future so he could hold and spoil his sister Maria’s baby.

He worked as an electrician and had previously worked with Rollins Excavating.  He loved to go mudding, fishing, and ride the back roads listening to music.  He was a pure country boy, always ready to lend a hand, and go horseback riding.  He was a volunteer with the Mooretown and Westside Fire Departments.  Anytime he went out on a call he made sure to turn his siren on right by his family’s house for a laugh.  He loved to aggravate his family and friends.  He had attended Plainview Baptist Church and was a part of one of the church’s videos “A Gift for a Son”.

Buddy Floyd

Mr. Buddy Floyd, 61 of Hillsboro passed away on October 18, 2020.  He was born on September 9, 1959 in Nashville, TN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Baker Floyd, Sr. and Jackie Woodham Floyd Ott, a daughter, Autumn Marie Floyd, brothers, J. D. Floyd and Charles Floyd, and sisters, Frances Floyd and Ester Floyd.

He is survived by his wife Morgan Floyd of Hillsboro, mom, Peggy Daniels of Smyrna, step-son, L’Alexander Scott of North Carolina, son, Baker “Bubba” Floyd, III of Smyrna, daughter, Nellie Marie “Nellie Bell” Floyd of Smyrna, brothers, Thomas (Tammi) Floyd of Woodbury, Kenneth (Kristi) Floyd of Smyrna, James Floyd of Nashville, and Joseph Floyd of LaVergne, sisters, Diane (Mark) Milom of Lebanon, and Elizabeth Adams.

Over the years he worked mainly as a painter.  He also worked on the General Jackson, at the U.S. Post Office, as a plumber, and a professional clown.  He had been a member of the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department.  He enjoyed fishing, loved his children, and his Lord.  He attended Oakland Ministries in Hillsboro.  His special buddy was his dog, Lucky and his wife’s service dog, Pocket.  His c.b. radio handle was “Skillet Man”.  He liked to be outside listening to the birds when he could.

Wade Rogers

Wade Rogers, 85, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020 at his home in Nashville. He was a native of Cannon Co.               

He is survived by his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Johnnie and Floyd Alexander of Nashville and Howard Knox, Jr. of Murfreesboro. Nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Medford Rogers and Mamie Reed Rogers; his wife of 62 years who passed away in January 2020, Mary Ellen Knox Rogers; his daughter, Vickie Rogers and his brother, Howard Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was a member of the Church of Christ and a retired truck driver.  He was a member of the Teamsters Union, local 480.  He was a loving husband and father.
Funeral Services will be 2:30 pm Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Thyatira Cemetery. Pallbearers will be retired friends from the Teamsters Union.  Visitation with the family will be Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 12 noon until 2 pm at Woodbury Funeral Home.

Virginia Lemmons

Mrs. Virginia Lemmons, 83, of Woodbury passed away on October 13, 2020. She was born in Woodbury, TN on May 17, 1937.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Elizabeth Wallace Davis, husband, Joe Houston Lemmons and a daughter, Frances Reed.

She is survived by five daughters, Dottie Leiman of Long Island, NY, Brenda K. Lemmons of Woodbury, Reba (Sam) McHenry of Murfreesboro, Sue Bailey of Tullahoma, and Shirley Godfrey of Florida, ten grandchildren, Jonathan Leiman, A. J. Leiman, Trevor Hutchison, Ali Hutchison, Daniel Burch, Serena Hobbs, Joe Van Dervort, David Godfrey, Michael Godfrey, and Robin de Klerk, as well as eight great grandchildren.

Eddie Dean Whittemore

Eddie Dean Whittemore, 68, of Woodbury died on October 11, 2020.  He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family.  He was born on August 11, 1952 in Woodbury.  His parents were Eldred (E.C.) Whittemore and Della Louise Gann Tischer.  His stepfather was the late Charles “Chuck” Tischer.  He grew up with 11 siblings. (9 brothers and 2 sisters).  He was retired after working 26 years with Samsonite and 5 years with Pillsbury.  He was very active with animals and was at peace when working with them.  He had a love for farm and country life. Eddie was a member of the Baptist church.

Eddie is survived by the mother of his children, Diane Whittemore of Woodbury; his daughter, Amy Whittemore Bond and her husband, Jimmy Bond of Crossville; 6 grandchildren, Jacky Whittemore, Tyler Finley, Kayla Edwards, Briana Bond, Kelsey Finley and Miranda Bond; 3 great grandchildren, Lillie Whittemore, Blaizlynn Finley and Emery Bond; 6 brothers, James Whittemore of Colorado Springs, CO., Robert Tischer of IN., Charles Tischer of FL., Beano Tischer LaVergne, Gary Tischer, Dakota Tischer, Jessica Tischer and Frankie Tischer all of Paris, IL. Dear family friends, Ann Mooneyham, Faye Foster, Linda Reed and Terry St. John all of Woodbury.

In addition to his parents and stepfather, he was preceded in death by his son, Jacky Dean Whittemore and 3 brothers, Ronnie, David and Johnny Whittemore.

Jackie Claude Pemberton

Jackie Claude Pemberton, 64, of Woodbury passed away from injuries substained in a auto accident, Friday, October 9, 2020.  He was born in Cannon Co and graduated from Woodbury Central High School.

He is survived by his daughter, Deanna Pemberton; granddaughter, Keely “Reba” Pemberton; fiancé, Suzy “Sam” Mathews; sister, Karen (Randy) Melton;

nieces and nephew, Emily “Emie Brooke” (Derrick) Elgin and Matthew Pemberton; Crystal Black and Britany Palmieri.  
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Clark; brother, Michael Pemberton and nephew, Justin Pemberton.
Jack was a member of the Church of Christ and owner/operator of JMP Land and Cattle Co. If you knew Jack, you knew that he was a real cowboy and he was honored to be named “Legend of the Trail” by SSHBEA. He enjoyed riding horses and spending time with his family.  Jack was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back.
Funeral Services will be 6 pm Sunday, October 11, 2020 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 1 pm until time of service.

Paul Edward Leach

Paul Edward Leach, 83, passed away  Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford.  A native of Cannon Co., he lived in Auburntown. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betsy Dutton Leach of Auburntown; children, Deborah Ruth Leach of Auburntown and Anthony (Paula) Leach of Woodbury; grandchildren, Anna Leach and Allen Leach; sisters-in-law, Joyce Leach and Tammy (Tim) McNatt and brother-in-law, Bobby (Joyce) Dutton. 
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Ruby Tedder Leach and brother, John Allen Leach.
Mr. Leach was a member of the Auburn Baptist Church, Tn. National Guard and was a retired printer at Tn. Farmer’s Co-Op in LaVergne.  After retirement, he enjoyed working on pocket watches. He loved music and was a handy man who could fix just about anything.  
Funeral Services will be 2 pm Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Auburn Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Thomas officiating.  Interment will follow in Donnell Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 11 am until time of service at Auburn Baptist Church.

Eddie Dean Patterson

Centertown Community resident and Warren County, TN native, Eddie Dean Patterson, age 62, was born March 23, 1958 and passed away October 7, 2020 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness.       

He was a farmer, master mechanic, a member of Woodbury Church of Christ, and the son of Ralph Edward Patterson of Murfreesboro, TN, and the late Gearldean Bratcher Prater.  He was married to Bonnie Sue Hoover Patterson of the Centertown Community on April 25, 1981.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Huston “Hootie” Prater; paternal grandparents, Edgar Patterson, and Bertie Mae Blair Hale; maternal grandparents Jacob and Rosie Lee Cope Bratcher; and step-grandfather, Quince Prater. 

In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Patterson is survived by three children, Megan Ferrell of the Centertown Community, Clint Edward (Brenda) Patterson of Clinton, TN and Kaitlin (Thomas) Parker of Clearmont, TN; five grandchildren, Grayson Mollinet, Kaydance Ferrell, Cole Edward Patterson, Braylen Ferrell, and Koen Ferrell; brother, Phillip (Bridgett) Prater of the Centertown Community; sister, Patsy Gregory of Murfreesboro, TN; nieces and nephews, Tony Foster, Lori McIntosh, Jason Foster, Amy Brandon, Will Prater, and John Porter Prater; two sisters-in-law, Judy Foster of Woodbury, TN and Pat (Shane) Nichols of Woodbury, TN. A host of aunts and uncles also survive.     

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 in High’s Chapel with Al Bugg officiating. Burial will follow in Ivy Bluff Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Thursday 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at High’s.

Jerry W. Alviar

Mr. Jerry W. Alviar, 62, of Woodbury passed away on October 3, 2020.  He was born on January 26, 1958 in Aurora, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Francis Morin and Laurine Katherine Wold.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Alviar, two daughters, Megan Alviar and Emily Alviar, three brothers, Pancho Alviar, Jesse Alviar, and Leonard Morin, a sister, Caroleen Wierbicki and a lot of good friends.

He grew up in the Illinois and Wisconsin area.  After high school he joined the Army.  He and Kelly met after his time in the Army and later moved to Woodbury.  He worked for himself doing auto body repair and paint.  In his spare-time he liked to hang out with friends, tell stories, and have a good time.  He loved being outdoors, going fishing, and hunting.  He liked to watch is favorite football team the Green Bay Packers and any kind of western movie.  Whenever a friend needed help, he would do his best.

Dorothy Bell Keaton Womack

Ms. Dorothy Bell Keaton Womack, age 94, of Woodbury passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at her home.  She was a native of Wilson Co.

Survivors include her children, Julia Eva (Jerry) Parsley, Mildred Ferrell, John Wiley, Jr. (Patricia) Womack, Margaret (Thomas) Melton, Ricky Womack, & Billy Womack all of Woodbury; 23 Grandchildren and 2 that she raised, Joe Womack & Ivy (Josh) Weimer; 42 Great Grandchildren & 32 Great Great Grandchildren; Son-in-law, Mike Sellars of Manchester; Sister-in-law, Nora Mai Keaton of Woodbury; and Brother-in-law, Marvin Baumgartner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Jon Wiley Womack I; Daughter, Dorothy Jean Sellars; Parents, Houston Flint & Geneva Keaton; Sister, Murlene Baumgartner; Brother, John Earl Keaton; Son-in-law, J.M. Ferrell; and infant grandsons, David Grant Womack, Bobby Lee, Jr., & Thomas Matthew Melton.

Mrs. Dorothy was retired from Colonial Corporation & was a housewife.  She was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ.  She loved working in her flowers, reading the Bible, her church, and spending time with her family.

Funeral Services will be 2 PM Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating.  Interment will follow at Riverside Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM to 8 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
