Kelly Joe Ferrell

Kelly Joe Ferrell, 48, of Manchester, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Tristar Southern Hills Medical Center following an extended illness.  He was a native of Cannon Co.

He is survived by his mother, Marie Paschal of Manchester, uncle and aunt, Russell and Janet Paschal of Readyville. 

Kelly is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and his fur babies.

He was preceded in death by his father, W.T. Ferrell, Grandparents, Neil H. and Annie Parton Paschal, Bratton and Josephine “Honey” Ferrell.

Kelly had a love for the Lord.  He was an ordained minister who led the congregation of Spirit and Truth church.  Prior to Covid, he ministered at the Woodbury Nursing Center by conducting weekly bible studies.  He graduated from Bellwood Christian Academy and attended Free Will Baptist Bible College.  He enjoyed clowning and magic that he used in ministry for Vacation Bible Schools.  Kelly enjoyed listening to other preachers and studying the bible.  
Visitation with his family will be from 11 AM until 1:45 PM, Monday, June 14, 2021 with graveside services to follow at 2 pm in Riverside Gardens cemetery with Bro. Johnny Tipton officiating.

Willie Mae Reed Shirley

Willie Mae Reed Shirley of Woodbury passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at St. Thomas West.  She was 85 and a native of Cannon Co.

She was married for almost 60 years to Lloyd Carlton Shirley who preceded her death on April 28, 2016.  Together they shared a wonderful life which includes 2 children who is surviving, Danny (Sharon) Shirley and Kathy (Charles) Preston all of Woodbury; 4 granddaughters, Angela (John) Tinnon of Flat Creek, Beth Roberts, Stephanie (Eli) Hamby, Alison (Jason) Roberts all of Woodbury; 10 great grandchildren, Macey, Austin, Colton, Addison, Lucas, Cade, Preston, Samuel, Ava and Remi; brothers, Terry (Marie) Reed of Woodbury and Arlin (Pat) Reed of Murfreesboro; aunt, Lura Boyd of Centertown.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ms. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Sam and Carrie Parker Reed and brother, Eugene Reed.

She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress.  She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach and the mountains.  Most of all, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports.

Funeral Services will be 2 pm Sunday, June 13, 2021 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Mitchell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Riverside Gardens cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4 pm until 8 pm Saturday, June 12, 2021.

Virginia Tenpenny

Virginia Tenpenny, 99, of Woodbury passed away at St. Thomas Stones River Hospital on June 1, 2021.  She was a native of Cannon Co.

She is survived by her children, Jerry (Ruth) Tenpenny, Helen Minton and Randy (Cynthia) Tenpenny; grandchildren, Steve Tenpenny, Cindy (Nick) Weaver, Tony (Sherry) Young, Tracy Young, Jason (Terri) Tenpenny, Tessa (Joe) Dumbacher and Ryan (Addie) Tenpenny; great grandchildren, Justin Tenpenny, Jiles (Lindsey) Tenpenny and Jeran Tenpenny, Brooke Weaver, Dillon (Kellye) Weaver, Devin Young, Derrick “Bucky” (Hope) Young, Daniel Young, Peyton Young, James Young, Hope (Terry) Parker, Ace Jaggers, Anna Jaggers, Trent Sherrill, Tatum Tenpenny, Taylor Sherrill, Trey Tenpenny, Lakely and Josie Dumbacher; great great grandchildren, Cooper and Evie Weaver, Holden Tenpenny, Dani and Dallas Young, Daylon, Kaylee, Amelia and Anastin Young.

Ms. Tenpenny was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Effie Keele Todd, her husband, Whyte Tenpenny, sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina (C) Davenport, Pauline (Theldar) Campbell, and Margaret (Don) Gribble, sons-in-law, Roy Young and Ray Minton and her grandson, Ricky Young.

Virginia was a much beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. 

She grew up on Hollis Creek and there is where she met her husband, Whyte.  Together they raised 3 children and who along with their extended family enjoyed running on those hills and wading in the creek.  Many horse rides have been enjoyed at their place on Hollis Creek and they loved sharing it with others.

She was a hard worker and she had many gardens while working at Samsonsite for more than 30 years.

Virginia was known as “Mama Gin” to all her family and friends.  She loved her family was always doing something for others.  She was a good Christian woman and has served many around her table all of her life.  She took care sick relatives and was always preparing for those who had lost loved ones.  She was always thinking of others whether it was her family or a neighbor.  She loved her church family at Sunny Slope church of Christ.

What a legacy she has left for all of us.  She has been a true blessing for 99 years.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, June 4, 2021 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Boyd Barker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. 

Pallbearers include, Steve, Jason and Ryan Tenpenny, Joe Dumbacher, Bucky Young, Dillon Weaver, Justin, Jiles and Jeran Tenpenny.  Serving as honorary pallbearers, Tracy Young, Tony Young, James Young, Devin Young, Daniel Young, Ace Jaggers and Terry Parker.

Visitation with the family will be from 3 pm until 8 pm Thursday, June 3, 2021.  For those wishing to do so, donations may be made to Woodbury Day School, Short Mtn. Bible Camp or Nashville Rescue Mission in her memory.

Jamie Lynn Mooneyham

Jamie Lynn Mooneyham, 45, died Saturday, May 29th at Stones River Hospital Emergency Room. She was a native of Dekalb County.

Survivors include: son: Jake Paul Mooneyham and his mother Sonya Miller of Woodbury, parents: Ronnie Mooneyham and Ann St. John Mooneyham of Woodbury, father-in-law:  Joe Reed, brothers: Tim and Chris Mooneyham & Craig Davenport of Woodbury, stepdaughter:Kayla Adams, her children, Kensley, Benjamin & Branson Adams, uncles and aunts:  Linda Reed, Faye and Ronnie Foster, Terry and Raccine St. John, Terry and Pat Reed, Terry and Pam York, Sharon Johnson and Linda McNeese, nieces and nephews:  Hailey Rains, Callie Ann, Emily and Matthew Mooneyham and Bo Barrett.

She was preceded in death by his grandparents, John L. and Mabel Mooneyham, Paul and Beatrice St. John.   Jamie enjoyed playing pool, fishing, family dinners, camping at the lake, cooking and watching football, but most of all spending time with his son Jake.
Funeral services for Jamie Lynn Mooneyham will be Wednesday, June 2nd at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be after 12 (Noon) Tuesday. Interment will be in the Cherry Cemetery. Bro. Greg Mitchell will conduct the service.

Vangilee Gail Jones

Vangilee Gail Jones, age 56, of Woodbury passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mark Jones; Children, Marcus Justin Jones, Samuel Jacob Jones, and Gabriell McKayla Juanita Jones, grandson Seth Marcus Jones all of Woodbury. She is also survived by her sister Pam (Mike) Horne of Tipton Oklahoma; Sister-in-law Mary Hale of Woodbury.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Joyce Brown Hale; brother Tommy Hale and sister Lisa Hale.

Gail was a loving friend, sister, daughter, wife and mother. She was a homemaker and loved quilting and canning.

Graveside services will be 1 PM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Banks Cemetery with Bro. Russell Vickers officiating. The family will receive friends for the visitation from 4 PM until 8 PM Friday May 28, 2021. 

Betty Sue Bowen Muncy

Betty Sue Bowen Muncy, age 55, of Woodbury passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home, Friday, May 21, 2021.  She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Tim Muncy; Children, Rachel Muncy, Derek Muncy, & Tabitha Muncy, all of Woodbury.  She is also survived by her mother, Pauline Bowen of Woodbury; Brother, James Bowen of Murfreesboro; Sisters, Carol Bowen & Kay Bowen, both of Woodbury.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Betty Faye Johnson of Centertown; Father-in-law, Jacky Muncy; Sisters-in-law & Brother-in-law, Brian & Shelia Kelly of Woodbury & Angela Wiggins of Morrison; and Nephew, Chase Kelly of Woodbury.  Many aunts, uncles, & cousins also survive.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Bowen; and her maternal grandmother & grandfather, Arine Manus & John Morgan Manus.

Betty had just celebrated 35 years of marriage May 17th with her “Only Love”, Tim Muncy.  Betty was a member of the Ivy Bluff church of Christ.  She loved her church family and enjoyed fellowship with them.  She loved going to Gatlinburg with her family and staying at the Gatlinburg Inn.  She enjoyed shopping trips and eating out with her daughters, Rachel & Tabitha.  She enjoyed taking her son Derek out to eat occasionally.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.  She had a kind heart and would help anyone who needed help.  She loved shopping for a good bargain, but when it came to her family she was never “cheap”.  Betty loved wearing tie dye.  She always said she wanted people to wear tie dye or bright colors to her funeral.

Margie Sue Jowers McFerrin

Margie Sue Jowers McFerrin, 85, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Gordonsville.  A native of Lexington, TN., she was the daughter of the late Edward & Lura Austin Jowers. 

She is survived by her daughter, Susanne (Donnie) Winfree of Gordonsville; son, Reagan McFerrin (Missy Taylor) of Woodbury; grandson, Mason McFerrin of Murfreesboro; sister, Edelene Rhodes of Lexington; niece, Teresa (Johnny) Grimes of Lexington and nephew, Larry Rhodes of Nashville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Lura Austin Jowers and her husband, Burton McFerrin.

A member of the Lakewood Baptist church, Ms. Margie was retired from Cannon Co. School system as the Food Service Supervisor.  She loved to read, garden and she had compassion for helping others in need.  
Graveside services will be 3:30 pm, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery with Chaplin Mike Potts and Bro. Todd Parrish officiating.

Nell Hale

Ms. Nell Hale, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at her residence in Smithville. Ms. Hale was a Christian and a previous worker at the Shirt Factory. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Landon Hale; parents, Homer and Bonnie Estes; sister, Willett Lawson; brothers, Alvie Lee Estes and Junior Estes. 

Visitation with the Hale family will be on Friday, May 21 from 4-8pm and on Saturday, May 22 from 9am until the time of the service at 11. The funeral will be held at Love-Cantrell Chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery with Bro. Howard Carroll will officiating. 

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Meredith Hale of Smithville; 2 sisters-in-law, Elsie Miller and Macon Hale both of Smithville; special cousins, Verna Lee Bogle and Peggy Sue Bogle both of Woodbury; 1 Grandson, Treyton of McMinnville.

Elaine Bogle

Elaine Bogle, age 73, of Bradyville passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at St. Thomas West.  She was a native of Cannon Co.

Survivors include her children, Billy Wayne (Jamie) Bogle of Bradyville, Carolyn (John) Constantine of Manchester, & Kim (Josh) Schuster of Hillsboro; Sister, Linda Clemons of Bradyville; Grandchildren, Ashley (Robert) Prater, Allison Bogle, Chrissy (Ben) Davis, Emily Garrison, Randall (Allison) Jennings, Alana (Cody) Jennings, Alisha Jennings, John David Constantine, Wyatt Constantine, Emily Schuster, & AJ Schuster; Great Grandchildren, Aubree, Harley, Rosslynn, Jesse, Raylyn, Hazley, Owen, & Aaleigh; Niece, Fyia (Rooster) Smith; Great Niece & Great Nephews, Gary, Henry Joe, Michael, & LeAnn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Bogle; her parents, Walter & Lucille Swanger Byars; and her niece, LeAnn Clemons.

Elaine was a member of the Ivy Bluff United Methodist Church and was retired from Human Resources at Walmart.  She enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandbabies.

JoAnne Campbell

JoAnne Campbell, 83, of Woodbury passed away May 19, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.  A native of Cleveland, OH., she was preceded in death by her parents, Batista DeMario and Maria Antoinette DeLenart DeMario. 

She is survived by her husband, Perry Campbell. On June 7th, they would have been married for 63 years; children, Denise Leggett and Steve (Heather) Campbell; grandchildren, Alesha Leggett, Erika (Zach) Miller, Alex Campbell and Justin (Katie) Leggett; great grandchildren, Skylar and Camden Rachel, Brennon and Bryce Miller, Kallie, Zoey, Nox and Pax Leggett and her brother, Joey (Helen) DeMario. 

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Joanne was a homemaker and was the epitome of the Virtuous Woman.  She loved her family beyond measure and she enjoyed providing for her community and her church at Leoni church of Christ.  She fully dedicated her body and physical strength in service to God, her family, and friends but she maintained her grateful, kind and generous spirit to the end.
Funeral services will be 12 noon, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Leoni church of Christ with Bro. Garland Robinson officiating.  Interment will follow in Leoni Cemetery.
