Margie Sue Jowers McFerrin

Margie Sue Jowers McFerrin, 85, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Gordonsville.  A native of Lexington, TN., she was the daughter of the late Edward & Lura Austin Jowers. 

She is survived by her daughter, Susanne (Donnie) Winfree of Gordonsville; son, Reagan McFerrin (Missy Taylor) of Woodbury; grandson, Mason McFerrin of Murfreesboro; sister, Edelene Rhodes of Lexington; niece, Teresa (Johnny) Grimes of Lexington and nephew, Larry Rhodes of Nashville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Lura Austin Jowers and her husband, Burton McFerrin.

A member of the Lakewood Baptist church, Ms. Margie was retired from Cannon Co. School system as the Food Service Supervisor.  She loved to read, garden and she had compassion for helping others in need.  
Graveside services will be 3:30 pm, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery with Chaplin Mike Potts and Bro. Todd Parrish officiating.

Nell Hale

Ms. Nell Hale, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at her residence in Smithville. Ms. Hale was a Christian and a previous worker at the Shirt Factory. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Landon Hale; parents, Homer and Bonnie Estes; sister, Willett Lawson; brothers, Alvie Lee Estes and Junior Estes. 

Visitation with the Hale family will be on Friday, May 21 from 4-8pm and on Saturday, May 22 from 9am until the time of the service at 11. The funeral will be held at Love-Cantrell Chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery with Bro. Howard Carroll will officiating. 

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Meredith Hale of Smithville; 2 sisters-in-law, Elsie Miller and Macon Hale both of Smithville; special cousins, Verna Lee Bogle and Peggy Sue Bogle both of Woodbury; 1 Grandson, Treyton of McMinnville.

Elaine Bogle

Elaine Bogle, age 73, of Bradyville passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at St. Thomas West.  She was a native of Cannon Co.

Survivors include her children, Billy Wayne (Jamie) Bogle of Bradyville, Carolyn (John) Constantine of Manchester, & Kim (Josh) Schuster of Hillsboro; Sister, Linda Clemons of Bradyville; Grandchildren, Ashley (Robert) Prater, Allison Bogle, Chrissy (Ben) Davis, Emily Garrison, Randall (Allison) Jennings, Alana (Cody) Jennings, Alisha Jennings, John David Constantine, Wyatt Constantine, Emily Schuster, & AJ Schuster; Great Grandchildren, Aubree, Harley, Rosslynn, Jesse, Raylyn, Hazley, Owen, & Aaleigh; Niece, Fyia (Rooster) Smith; Great Niece & Great Nephews, Gary, Henry Joe, Michael, & LeAnn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Bogle; her parents, Walter & Lucille Swanger Byars; and her niece, LeAnn Clemons.

Elaine was a member of the Ivy Bluff United Methodist Church and was retired from Human Resources at Walmart.  She enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandbabies.

Funeral Services will be 1 PM Monday, May 24, 2021 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Adam Cutshaw officiating.  Interment will follow at Ivy Bluff Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for the visitation from 3 PM to 8 PM Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Woodbury Funeral Home.

JoAnne Campbell

JoAnne Campbell, 83, of Woodbury passed away May 19, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.  A native of Cleveland, OH., she was preceded in death by her parents, Batista DeMario and Maria Antoinette DeLenart DeMario. 

She is survived by her husband, Perry Campbell. On June 7th, they would have been married for 63 years; children, Denise Leggett and Steve (Heather) Campbell; grandchildren, Alesha Leggett, Erika (Zach) Miller, Alex Campbell and Justin (Katie) Leggett; great grandchildren, Skylar and Camden Rachel, Brennon and Bryce Miller, Kallie, Zoey, Nox and Pax Leggett and her brother, Joey (Helen) DeMario. 

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Joanne was a homemaker and was the epitome of the Virtuous Woman.  She loved her family beyond measure and she enjoyed providing for her community and her church at Leoni church of Christ.  She fully dedicated her body and physical strength in service to God, her family, and friends but she maintained her grateful, kind and generous spirit to the end.

William Pruitt

Mr. William “Keith” Pruitt, 67, of Readyville passed away on May 15, 2021.  He was born in Murfreesboro, TN on Feb. 23, 1954.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Bill Pruitt and Sarah Elizabeth (Sullivan) Pruitt.

He is survived by siblings, Donna and husband, Arch Walker “Chip” Carroll, Jr. of Murfreesboro, Barry (Vicki) Pruitt of Huntsville, AL and Jay (Isis) Pruitt of Knoxville, nieces and nephew, Angela (Michael Turner) Carroll of FL, Sarah Elizabeth (Scott) Pastoor, MI, Ginny Carroll (Stephen) Baxter of WA, Liam Pruitt and several nieces and nephews.

Keith grew up in Murfreesboro and was the second oldest of his siblings.  He graduated from Central High School in Murfreesboro, Class of 1972.  He retired from Bell South with over 20 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed duck hunting in times past, and a lifelong animal lover.  His home and the land surrounding provided a greatly appreciated solitude for him for many years.  Among the many traits he held were his steadfast loyalty, charming personality, kind eyes, fun loving jokester attitude followed by a good laugh and smile.  While he had no children of his own his nieces, nephew, and great nieces and nephews provided him with great joy.  They lovingly called him Uncle Keith. 

The family will be holding a memorial celebration of his life at Third Baptist Church, 410 W. McKnight Dr. Murfreesboro, on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 11 am.  Steve Hutson will officiate. Glenda Faye King Vandygrift

Glenda Faye King Vandygrift, 72, passed away Friday at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro. She was a native of Cannon County.

Survivors: 2 Daughters and Sons-in-law:  Christa & Kenny Campbell and Jami & Shane Ervin all of Murfreesboro, 5 Grandchildren:  Trey & Abby Campbell, Lee, Cole & Grant Ervin, 2 Brothers and sister-in-law:  Randy & Tyanne King of Murfreesboro, Stanton King of Auburntown, Sister-in-law:  Millie Mingle of Woodbury, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Grady & Glennette Vance King; her husband, Eddie Vandygrift and brother, Wayne “Byrd” King.

A member of Auburn Baptist Church, she was a graduate analyst at MTSU.  Glenda loved making memories with her children and grandchildren.

Shirley Fay Stewart Estes

Shirley Fay Stewart Estes, 82, passed away at her home in Woodbury, Friday, May 14, 2021.  She was a native of Cannon Co.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Annette Estes Warren and her husband, Roger Warren of Woodbury; grandchildren, Angel Campbell (fiancé, Jay Puffenbarger), Jan (Chris) Young and Steven (Jessica) Warren all of Woodbury; great grandchildren, Shelbie and Tyler Campbell, Jasmine, Dalton and Jayda Young, Jackson and Sawyer Warren; sister, Reta Pauline Stewart of Phil Campbell, AL. and special friend of 54 years, Jeanette Moss. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Petway Stewart and Nova White Prater Stewart; sisters, Lillian Campbell and Retha Stewart.

A member of the church of Christ, Ms. Shirley was retired with 31 years at Kingston Timer, and she had previously worked at White Stag. She loved watching many sports especially Cannon County basketball, enjoyed cooking, sewing, and making memories with her family who meant the most to her.

Bobby Dean Davis

Mr. Bobby Dean Davis, 65, of Bradyville passed away on April 5, 2020.  He was born in the Blue Wing Community of Cannon County on March 11, 1955.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman Davis and Hester Barrett Davis, also by a daughter, Angela Nicole Davis, a son, Jonathan Davis, and by all but four of his twelve brothers and sisters. 

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Arnold Davis, son, Chris (Linda) Davis of Bradyville, brother, Landon Davis of Murfreesboro, sisters, Patsy Cook of McMinnville, Judy York of Lafayette, and Linda Cook of Detroit, MI, five grandchildren, Jacob Davis, Kala (Chase Heath) Davis, Tyler Arnette, Blake Davis, and Brady Davis, step-granddaughter, Destiny Mitchell, and by great granddaughter, Novalea Heath and step-great granddaughter, Graelynn Rae Mitchell, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Mr. Bobby grew up in the Blue Wing Community and kept a love of that area.  Growing up he enjoyed working in his father’s chair shop and around the farm.  Being outdoors, going hunting, and fishing were favorite hobbies.  As a young man, his future wife, Kathy, caught his eye.  They married young and started their family right away.  They celebrated their 46th anniversary prior to his passing in 2020.  Born with the talent to tear apart and put back together diesel engines and heavy equipment.  He worked as a diesel mechanic and shop foreman until his health began to fail him.  He was strong in his Christian faith and love for his family.  He would often tell his children and wife, “I’ll spoil your mama, and she’ll spoil you.”  He and his family leased a campsite at Woods Reservoir for the past several years and enjoyed being there together.  He never met a stranger and loved to share the gospel with family, friends, and people he hadn’t met before.  His parents bought and donated the land where Blue Wing Baptist Church and cemetery now stand.  Over the years he and his family helped take care of the cemetery and church.  When the church closed several years ago his desire was to revive it for the community.  He helped see the church reopen in recent years and became a deacon to help teach family and friends.  Mr. Bobby suffered with kidney disease for many years and had to take dialysis for the past several years.  He did his best to live to the fullest despite his illness. 

Due to the events in 2020 the family postponed the services until a proper celebration of his life could be held now.  The family will receive friends at Dillon Street Baptist Church on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 1-2 pm. Orville James Lewis

Mr. Orville James “Buck” Lewis, 88, of Woodbury and a native of Coffee Co., passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Woodbury Health and Rehab.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Deloris Parker Lewis of Woodbury; his daughter, Kay (John) Barker of Woodbury; grandson, Zachary Lewis Barker of Mt. Juliet; and his sister, Wanda Spry of Bradyville.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin & Eula Duke Lewis and brothers, Troy, Malcolm, and Manuel Lewis.

A member of Woodbury Church of Christ, he was a veteran of the Korean War where he served proudly in the United States Army.  He was a farmer and was a retired Sewing Machine Mechanic.

Funeral services will be 6 P.M. Thursday, May 6, 2021 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Boggess and Bro. Charlie Bowman officiating.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.  Visitation with his family will be Thursday, from 3 P.M. until the time of service.

Linda Womack Henry

Linda Womack Henry, 81, of Gallatin passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at The Opal at Music City.  She was a native of Cannon Co, TN.

She is survived by her children, Sean (Ted) Whirledge of CA. and Sharon (Shane) Haley of Woodbury; grandchildren, Melody Haley, Elizabeth (Bryce) Bichon and Sarah Haley; great grandchildren, Brody and Ella Bichon, Haven Haley, Cami, Cason and Channing Haley and her sister, Glenda Faye Ayers of CA.

Ms. Henry was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Leburn Womack and Roberta Lee Smithson Womack; daughter, Susan Faye White and granddaughter, Harmony Haley.

Mrs. Henry was a member of the Hartsville Pike church of Christ and was a caring registered nurse.  Linda was sociable with her church family and was outgoing. She was an avid baker,  enjoyed writing her own recipes and collecting cook books. She was also a certified gemologist and enjoyed her time working in jewelry stores.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, May 8, 2021 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with visitation from 9 am until her time of service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
