Jimmy Joe Duncan

Jimmy Joe Duncan, 60, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at his home in Woodbury. He was a native of Henderson, KY.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kim Ford Duncan of Woodbury; daughter, Brittany Duncan of Woodbury; grandchildren,  Layla & Brooklyn; siblings,   Pam Lokey of Centertown, Linda McChesney and Mike Duncan both of KY, Nancy Gibson of Spencer, Loretta Pittard, Johnny Duncan, Kevin Duncan and Jr. McVay all of Woodbury and Keith Duncan of Murfreesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel Duncan and Joy Adams Murphy; siblings, Cheryl Duncan, Diane Gibson and Jack Duncan.

Jimmy was a member of the Pentecostal Church and he was a retired Tree Surgeon.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, June 24, 2018 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Amity Cemetery. Pallbearers include Billy Gene Lokey, Jonathan & Jesse Stone, Dustin Rublee and Ronnie Jernigan, Jr.  Visitation with the family will be from 3 pm until 9 pm Saturday, June 23, 2018.

Mernell Hutchins Alexander

Mernell Hutchins Alexander was born February 14, 1946 to the late Robert Milton and Mattie Lee Prater Hutchins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Hutchins and J.C. Hutchins and sisters, Marie Bivens and Sharon Hollandsworth.

She is survived by her sister, Linda Hutchins Bivens; her husband, Terry Gayle Alexander; her daughters, Sherry Alexander (Darren) Minor and Tiftonia Alexander (Randy) Hart; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Michael, Joshua and Madeline; six great grandchildren, Jordan, Aly, Mia, Belen, Luke and Liam whom she all loved dearly.

She adored her family and made it her mission to make them happy.  She was a member of the Sanders Fork Baptist church and a devout Christian who served her Lord and Master everywhere she went.  Nell was a seamstress in the garment industry.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Elder Roger Rhoter and Elder Randy Hart officiating.  Interment will follow in the Reed Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be after 11 am Monday.

Roger Dale Miller

Roger Dale Miller, 67, passed away Tues., June 12, 2018 from a short illness at Parkridge Medical Center.  He was a native of Cannon Co. and lived in Morrison.  He is survived by his wife, April Watley Miller of Morrison; Daughters, Dana (Tammy) Miller of Shelbyville and
Shelby Sellars of Morrison; Siblings, Pat (Mark) Elkins and Lynn (Rita) Miller all of Woodbury; Father-in-law and
Mother-in-law, Louis & Refa Watley of Morrison; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Keith Watley of Altamont,
Kiel (Sonia) Watley of Waco, TX, Denise (Bill) Salisbury of Altamont, Jaquetta (Phillip) Moreland of Morrison;
special family,   Jeff, Cheryl, Cody and Carly Cole of Spencer, Deborah (James) McKinney of Melborne, FL.;
Papa’s Grandson:  Steven Henshaw; Several Nieces and Nephews and his dog, Bullet. A devoted and loving
EMS family also survives him and will carry his legacy on. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Miller, Jr. and Claudine Rogers Coffman.
 
Roger was a retired Advanced Emergency Medical Tech with 41 years of service. He was a founding member of Mooretown Fire Dept and Cannon Co. Rescue Squad. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, camping, hunting and farming.

Zena Grace Baird

Zena Grace Baird, age 84 of Woodbury, died at her home Saturday morning June 9, 2018 surrounded by her devoted and loving family.  She was born July 2, 1933 in Red Boiling Springs, TN to John Melvin and Lula Bean Leonard.  She was a Christian and a member of the Church of Christ faith. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Kendall, Ray, James, & Charles Leonard; sisters, Dorothy Leonard Parker, Mary Leonard Barrett, Elise Leonard Haynes and infant Louise Leonard and one granddaughter Grace Lauren Baird.   
She was survived by her 5 children:  Sara & Willie Patton of Watertown, Larry & Hazel Baird of Lebanon, Terry Glen & Sonya Baird of Woodbury, Anthony & Reneé Hutchison of Morrison, and Lisa Baird of Woodbury.  One sister:  Rebecca Leonard of Murfreesboro and one brother:  John Edward Leonard of Ridgetop, TN.  10 grandchildren:  Josh, Amanda, Matthew (Bert) Patton, Jeremy Baird, Tara Baird-Wilkins, Holly Baird, Brent & Brandon Hutchison, John & Lauren Baird.  6 great grandchildren:  Cody & Audrey Baird, Wesley Patton, Maggie, Michael, & Mason Baird.
 
Ms. Baird was a retired LPN.  A member of the Church of Christ, she loved sewing and cooking.  Her greatest accomplishments were being a loving mother and grandmother. 
 
Funeral services will be 11 am Monday in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Al Bugg and Bro. Brian Reed officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wilson Co. Memorial Gardens at 1 pm Monday. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation with the family will be from 4 pm till 9 pm Sunday.

Phyllis Ann Carmin Sissom

Phyllis Ann Carmin Sissom, age 83, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Manor Care Health Services in Indianapolis.  She was a resident of Cannon County, Tennessee for over 60 years residing in the Hollow Springs Community.  Originally a native of Muncie, IN, she moved to Hollow Springs in the mid-fifties and resided there with her husband, Leo Sissom, for 61 years until his death in 2015. 
She is survived by her son, Alan Sissom of Franklin, IN; Grandson, Noel Sissom of Franklin, IN; Sister, Juanita Lyons and her family of Muncie, IN; Brother, Tommy Carmin and his family of Muncie, IN; Sisters-in-laws, Delia Sissom & Cleo Burks and her family, both of Hollow Springs Community.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
 
Ms. Sissom is remembered as an officer of the Woodbury Police Department, from which retired after more than a decade of service from 1979 to 1993.  She is also well-remembered as a talented maker of fine handcrafted jewelry sold variously in Woodbury, Tennessee.
 
Graveside Services will be Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Gilley Hill Cemetery at 2 PM.

Daniel Lee Tidwell

Mr. Daniel Lee “Pops” Tidwell, 41, of Murfreesboro passed away on June 6, 2018.  He was born in Murfreesboro, TN on December 29, 1976.  He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lee Tidwell, a son, Brandon Tidwell, and his first wife, Brenda Tidwell.He is survived by his wife, Tonia Tidwell; mother, Penny Tidwell; son, Bradley Tidwell; daughter, Brianna Tidwell; step-sons, Christopher Fletcher all of Murfreesboro and John Fletcher of Bradyville; step-daughter, Cheyenne Fletcher of Murfreeesboro; three step-grandchildren, Dixon, Wesson, and Annilen; as well as many other family and friends.
Daniel was an avid outdoorsman.  Anytime he could be outside he was happier.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.  Working outside on mechanic projects, logging, and handy man jobs were things he liked doing.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Jeffery Joe Mitchell

Jeffery Joe Mitchell, age 55 of Manchester passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital.  He was born in El Paso, Texas.Survivors include his wife, Melanie Mitchell of Manchester; Parents, Joe & Sue Hobbs Mitchell of Woodbury; Children, Jeremy Bingham of Manchester, Kayla (Bradley) Kennedy of Tullahoma, Kendra (Ryan) Stewart of Winchester, Issac Gardner of Manchester, Heather (Matt) Howland of California, Stephanie (Cody) Stephens of Tullahoma, Brittany Mitchell of Manchester, & Tyler Mitchell of Manchester; Brothers, Greg (Nora) Mitchell of Woodbury & Jason Mitchell of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Ziah Bingham, Landen Kennedy, Fallon Kennedy, Nathan Stewart, Nick Stewart, Dillon, Kaitlynn, & Leland Howland, Jude, Maya, & Cora Stephens, & Ashton Mitchell; and Mother-in-law, Lynda Harrell of Manchester.
Mr. Mitchell was employed by the Manchester City Water Department and his church relationship was non-denominational.  He enjoyed cooking on his grill, singing & playing his guitar, but most of all he loved spending time with his family & grandbabies.

Greg Merterth Byford

Greg Merterth Byford, age 45, of Woodbury passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at his home.  He was a native of Cannon Co. 
Survivors include his daughter, Myranda Byford; Son, Lucas Byford; Mother, Eunice Ferrell Byford; Sister, Ella (Mike) Green; Brother, Shane Byford, all of Woodbury; Special Friends, David Taylor, Nisey Maynard, & Charles Ferrell.  Several nieces & nephews also survive.
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Alf Merterth “Mert” Byford.
 
Mr. Byford was a member of the Church of Christ and was a self-employed Mechanic.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles and being with family and friends.
 
Funeral Services will be 4 PM Sunday, May 27, 2018 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Leonard Herman officiating.  Interment will follow at Byford Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 11 AM to 9 PM Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the funeral home.

Carl Mayne Knox

Carl Mayne Knox, age 93, of Readyville passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at his home.  He was a native of Cannon Co. 
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Cleta Mae Holt Knox of Readyville; Children, Capt. Barry L. Knox of Wartrace, Timothy Knox of Readyville, & Betty (Gary) Brown of Bradyville; Granddaughters, Britney & Hannah Brown of Bradyville; and Brother, Jack & Naomi Knox of Murfreesboro.  Several nieces & nephews also survive.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Forrest Knox & Tina Bell Gram Knox; and his son, Dickie Knox.
 
Mr. Knox was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ and was a school bus driver for 31 years for Cannon County Schools.  He worked for General Electric for 10 years & also worked at Armour Creameries Cheese Plant.  Mr. Knox was a retired farmer where he enjoyed tending to his livestock, especially his sheep & cows.  He was a wonderful husband, father, and family man.
 
Funeral Services will be 2 PM Sunday, May 27, 2018 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating.  Interment will follow at Thyatira Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 8 PM Saturday, May 26, 2018.
