James Stacey, Jr.

James Stacy Jr., 74, died Friday at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro. He was a native of Cannon County.  
Survivors include; siblings Clyde Ray Stacy, Ruby Stacy Best, Alice Stacy Parker, Sally Stacy Cantrell and Viva Stacy Medders. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
 
He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a construction worker.
 
Graveside Services for James Stacey, Jr. will be Tuesday at 2:00pm in the Gilley Hill Cemetery. Bro. James Caudill will conduct the service.  Visitation with the family will be from:  12:30pm to 1:30pm Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

Dorothy Ann Miller Ross

Mrs. Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Miller Ross, 65, of Woodbury passed away on August 28, 2018.  She was born in Woodbury, TN on August 30, 1952.  Her parents were the late George Smoot Miller and Pauline Mathis Miller.  She was also preceded in death by brothers, Jesse James Miller, William “Bill” Miller, and George Edgar Miller; step-son, Eddie “Bubba” Denzil Ross; and brother-in-law, Floyd Gannon.She is survived by her husband, Eddie “Ed” Ross; daughter, Linda (Chris) Davis of Bradyville; step-daughter, Cleo Rogers of Kittrell; brother, Raymond Miller of Bradyville; sisters, Fannie Gannon, Ruby Allred, Mary Stone all of Woodbury, Sarah (Carl Ray) Mathis, Lorene Holland both of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Diane Miller and Ida Miller; grandchildren, Jacob Tyler Davis, Destiny Faith Mitchell, Hunter Blake Davis, and Christopher Brady Davis, Larissa Ross, Cody Ross, Carolyn Moore, and Billy Rogers; and great granddaughter, Graelynn Rae Mitchell, Lamayna Dion, Wild Martin, Tia Farmer, Tyler Farmer, Alyssa Moore, Joshua Moore, Caleb Rogers, and Christopher Rogers; special friend, David Anthony “Tony” Wilson of Woodbury; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was the kind of person who never met a stranger.  She loved all children and especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter.  Over the years she worked at Val-Dor Shirt Factory and more recently has been a waitress at the Scoreboard Restaurant since their opening.  She loved the job at the Scoreboard because she could talk to people.  During her free-time she enjoyed fishing, cooking, flower gardening, and watching cardinals and humming birds.  She was a member of the New Hope Church of Christ.

George Alton Farless

George Alton Farless, 76,  passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Centennial Medical Center.  He was a native of Cannon Co.He is survived by his daughter, Debra (Joey) Grandey of Bradyville; partner, Hazel Scott of Woodbury; grandchildren, Alan (Becky) Harrell, Colleen Farless, Lindsey Farless, Kasey Farless, Ciara Scott and Kayla “Jack Rabbitt” Scott; great grandchildren:  Carter Harrell, Porter Bond and Johnathan Pewitt and sister,  Peggy (Don) Brandon of Murfreesboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Thelma Duke Farless; 2 sons, Jeff Farless and Russell Farless; Brother, JC Farless; and Uncle, Jesse Lee Duke
George was a member of the Church of Christ, loved to fish and camp.  He was retired from Electrolux and the owned the Woodbury Game Room and Farless Grocery.

Tammy Marie Burger Newby, 56, passed away Fri., August 24, 2018 at St. Thomas West.  She was a native of Cannon Co., Tn.

JoAnn Francis Davis

Mrs. JoAnn Francis Davis of Woodbury, TN., passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on August 25, 2018, following an extended illness.  She was 77. 
JoAnn was born on April 2, 1941, in Woodbury, TN. to her parents, the late Rayburn & Mae Bell Bryson Francis.  After marrying Buddy, she threw her energies into raising their children and her kitchen was always open.  JoAnn had a personality and sense of humor that brought abundant laughter and joy into any room she entered.  She was very involved in her community, acting as a city council woman for several years.  JoAnn attended Woodbury First Baptist Church.  She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sibling, friend and neighbor to many and she was passionate about helping others.  She leaves us rich in memories.
 
JoAnn was preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Buddy” Arthur Davis and her siblings, Elizabeth Wilson, Naomi Francis and James Francis.  JoAnn is survived by her special, lifelong friend, Doxie Sissom; daughter, Shannon Davis; sons, Keith Davis (Christie) and Kirk Davis (Christa); siblings, Bud Francis, Nile Francis, Mary-Lillian Hall, Billy Francis and Bobby Francis; grandchildren, Erin and Nathan; great grandson, Daxton; and step grandchildren, Josh, Cassie (Blake), Kenny and Autumn; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Hazel Katherine Burt, age 78, of Woodbury passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Woodbury Health & Rehab.  She was born in Cannon County on July 18, 1940 to the late Claude & Molly Brown Mayo. 
Survivors include her children, Donald (Sandra) Burt of Woodbury, James (Kim) Burt of Readyville, Carla (Danny) Lowe of Murfreesboro, Alan (Laurie) Burt of Hazlegreen, AL, & Barry Burt of Woodbury; Siblings, Ida Mae Mayo of Woodbury, Carl Mayo of Woodbury, Willene Mayo, & Sarah Melton, both of Woodbury; and Grandchildren, Holly Groe, Daniel Burt, Michael Burt, Daxton Burt, Jade Smith, Jessica Lowe, Justin Burt, Tristan Burt, Chelsea Campbell, McKenzie Coggin, Kyle Vinson, & Stevie Vinson.
 
11 great grandchildren also survive.
 
She was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and was retired from Whirlpool.

Michelle Joy Summer, age 15, of Auburntown passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Vanderbilt Hospital.  She was a native of Rutherford Co.

Michelle was a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church and was saved on July 15, 2014 and baptized July 20, 2014 by Danny Mayo.

Gloria Jean McDonnell, age 67, of Woodbury passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Alive Hospice of Madison.  She was a native of Middletown, Ohio. 
Survivors include her husband, Geoffrey McDonnell of Woodbury; Children, Donnie Ray Patrick of Mt. Sterling, KY, Robin Hill of Woodbury, Tommy McDonnell of FL, Lita Kay Leviner of Woodstock, GA, Michelle Howard of Ohio, Michael Swinford of Cincinnati, & Timmy Thomas of FL; and Brothers, Chuck Veidt & Vernon Veidt, both of Middletown, OH.
 
15 Grandchildren & 6 Great Grandchildren also survive.
 
Ms. McDonnell was preceded in death by her parents, Byron A. Veidt & Bonnie Jean King Veidt; and Son, Dale Patrick.
 
She was a member of the Baptist Church and a store clerk.

Jodie Christine Bryson Rich, age 96, of Woodbury passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at Woodbury Health & Rehab.  She was born on January 25, 1922 to the late Joe Bryson & Tina Barrett Bryson in Cannon County. 
Survivors include her children, Robert W. (Wanda) Rich of McMinnville, Jerry (Nell) Rich of Knoxville, & Larry (Joan) Rich of Woodbury; Sister, Irene Rich of Murfreesboro; Grandchildren, Charlie Rich, Michelle Rich, Tracey Reed, Justin Rich, Jennifer Conner, Bryan Rich, Kevin Rich, TJ Rich, & Kortny Blaylock; and Great Grandchildren, Ashley Ross, Jessica Jenkins, Kayla Kincer, Kyle Van Patten, Christian Rich, Nicholas Reed, Blake Reed, Braeden Rich, Ethan Conner, Kallie Ross, Braden Ross, Brooklyn Blaylock, Brody Blaylock, Landin Rich, Dillin Rich, & Masin Rich.
 
In addition to her parents, Ms. Rich was preceded in death by her husband,  Floyd Leburn Rich; Sons, Thomas & Donnie Rich; Sister, Evelyn Hayes; Daughter-in-law, Ella Rich; and Granddaughter, Tammy Rich.
 
Ms. Rich was a member of the First Baptist Church and was retired from the cutting department at White Stag.  She also volunteered her time at the hospital.

Demetrius Marlene Bogle, age 44, of Auburntown passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.  She was a native of Tullahoma. 
Survivors include her parents, Charles & Dean Bogle Vantrease of Auburntown; Fiance, Lenny Zellman of Auburntown; Brother, Aaron (Heather) Vantrease of Auburntown; Sister-in-law, Amy Bogle Court of Woodbury.
 
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
