Denise Mankin Reed, age 60, of Woodbury passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 at St Thomas Rutherford. She was a native of Cannon Co.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Terry Russell Reed of Woodbury; Children Casey and C.W. (Atheana) Reed of Woodbury; Granddaughter Sadie Grace Reed; mother, Elizabeth Joy Jernigan Mankin; brother Kevin “Scooter” (Dorinda “Dodie”) Mankin; brother and sister-in-laws, Gary and Wanda Reed, Greg and Lisa Rogers, & Barry and Anita Bush, all of Woodbury. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clifton Wayne Mankin, Sr.; and brother Clifton Wayne Mankin, Jr.
Denise was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ and a homemaker. She enjoyed going camping and fishing.
Funeral Services will be 1 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at Cateston Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM until 8 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2019.

Betty Carol Vance Nichols Gilley, age 81, of Woodbury passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at NHC of McMinnville. She was a native of Cannon Co.Survivors include her children, Barbara (Grady) Parker, Jimmy (Penny) Nichols, & Michael (Kim) Nichols, all of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Nicholas Parker, Ashley Hoffman, Jimmy (Jennifer) Nichols, Ashley (Ben) Cantrell, & Zoe Nichols; Great Grandchildren, Braxton, Brennon, Brooklyn & Matthew Parker, Mason, Sophie, & Maggie Nichols, and Cohen & Addy Cantrell; Stepchildren, Kenny (Debbie) Gilley & Bob (Daffy Parsley) Gilley. Six Step Grandchildren & 11 Step Great Grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray & Ola Mae King Vance; Husband, Paul E. Gilley; Siblings, James Vance, Nora Lee Bogle, Glennette King, Alpha Fann, Winfred “Wimp” Vance, Alva Lee “Strut” Vance; and infant daughter, Anna Ruth Nichols.
Ms. Gilley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodbury. She worked at Colonial Shirt Factory and was Assistant Plant Manager of Val’Dor and Cannon County Sportswear. She loved to cook and before retiring, she owned Betty’s Restaurant on Main Street in Auburntown.
Funeral Services will be 1 PM Monday, March 25, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bros. Al Bugg, Jr., Dean Anderson, & Bobby Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 2 PM until 8 PM Sunday, March 24, 2019 & until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.

Clifton Wayne Mankin, Sr.
Clifton Wayne Mankin, Sr., age 84, of Woodbury passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was a native of Balinger, TX. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joy Jernigan Mankin of Woodbury; Children, Denise & Russell Reed of Woodbury & Kevin “Scooter” & Dorinda “Dodie” Mankin of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Casey & C.W. (Atheana) Reed & Wilder Mankin (fiancee, Megan Deatcher); Great Grandchildren, Sadie Grace Reed; and Siblings, Billy Wilson of Smyrna & Lonnie (Janice) Mankin of Hermitage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper William & Lyda Belle Wilder Mankin; Son, Clifton Wayne Mankin, Jr.; and Siblings, J.W. Mankin, Elsie Ragsdale, & Katherine Ferrell.
Mr. Mankin was a member of the Elkins Church of Christ and was a Veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army. He retired from State Farm in the Maintenance Department after 28 years. Clifton enjoyed fishing at Center Hill Lake, working in his yard, horseback riding, and spending time with his family & his dog, Bandit.

Earlene Sissom Williams
Earlene Sissom Williams, 95, passed away Mon., March 18, 2019 at Woodbury Health and Rehab. She was a native of Cannon Co.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Tony) Parker of Bradyville; granddaughters, Tiffany (Todd) Gannon and Whitney Parker all of Murfreesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and Lellia Duke Sissom; her husband, Joe W. Williams; daughter, Joann Williams; brother, Eugene Sissom and Sister, Lurlia Sissom.
Ms. Williams was a member of the Simmons Chapel Free Methodist Church and a retired school teacher. She taught at Hollow Springs school and Woodland Elementary until she retired. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and sitting on her front porch.
Funeral Services will be 2 pm Thursday, March 22, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Wheeler and Bro. Josh Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Gilley Hill Cemetery. Carl Ollen Spry, 86, of Manchester passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was a native of Cannon Co.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Jo Brandon Spry of Manchester; children, Deb Spry (Rick) Insell of Murfreesboro and Tim (Jill) Spry of Woodbury; 7 grandchildren, Tom (Sarah) Insell, Staci (Michael) Sellars, Kyle (Megan) Insell, Brandon (Andrea) Rigsby, Matt (Autumn) Insell, Lana Spry and Carly Spry; 10 great grandchildren, Michaela, Maci, and Kale Sellars, Carter, Caroline and Charley Insell, Parsons Insell, Brandt, Kren and Rhys Rigsby and another great grandchild that is due in August; Siblings, O’Neail (Wilma) Spry; Vetrice (Faris) Goins, Evelyn (George) Barnes, Joyce Spry Smith and Ronnie (Betty) Spry; Sisters-in-law, Linda (Jack) Scruggs and Kathy (Bill) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Vernon and Leona Duke Spry and his daughter, Kandy Spry Rigsby; sisters, Nora Faye Spry and Shirley Spry Jones; nephew, Joey Spry; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Joe L. and Gladys Williams Brandon and brother-in-law, A.J. Brandon.
A retired salesman, Mr. Spry was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ and the United States Navy where he was a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting and going to ballgames where he was a big supporter of MTSU. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Funeral Services will be 11 am Monday, March 18, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the Gilley Hill Cemetery where military honors will be performed. Visitation with the family will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Sunday, March 17, 2019.

Charles Smith
Charles “Charley” Smith, age 92 of Murfreesboro, died Sunday at home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Barton County, Missouri and a son of the late Marshall and Willa Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roland Smith; a granddaughter, Heather VanWagner; brothers, Lewis, Sam, Roy, Bud, and Bill Smith; and sisters, Cap Alexander and Vera Richards.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Sue Smith; children, Roy Smith and wife Belva of Woodbury, Missy Leonard and Susan Gard and husband Bill, all of Murfreesboro; Mary Macdonald, Treva Parks, Starla Culley and husband Jerry, all of Carthage, MO; Deborah Cartright of Tulsa, OK; seventeen grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and his faithful comfort dog Lucy.
Charley was a faithful member of Third Baptist Church, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. But above all, his life represented someone who loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, and soul. In his early years, he was a cattle dealer and realtor in Missouri. Later, he bought, sold, and developed real estate in Middle Tennessee and as an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed quail, turkey, and pheasant hunting.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Brothers, Steve Hutson and Mark Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Charley K. Smith, Doug Addy, David Nickens, Bryce Gard, Brent VanWagner, and Justin, Adam, and Tyler Leonard serving as pallbearers.

Phillip Shook
Phillip Shook, age 50 of Bradyville, Tennessee died Sunday, March 3, 2019. He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Cleo Shook and Charlotte Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Karen Curlee and Lisa Shook.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby and Phillip Shook; girlfriend, Cathy Loose; niece, Cassie Curlee (Drew Reed); nephew, Donald Curlee (Danielle Roney); great nephews, Brady Davenport and Noah Curlee; great nieces, Cynthia Davenport and Ashlan Reed; a special dog, Remington; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was a truck driver for Maverick Transportation and an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Sidney Parham officiating.

Betty King West, 74, who passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at her home in Murfreesboro. She was a native of Auburntown.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald West of Murfreesboro; 3 Sons, Scott (Leisa) West of Winchester, Mike (Teresa) West of Beech Grove and Gary (Melinda) West of Kittrell; sisters, Martha King Taylor of Woodbury and Nancy Trail of Bradyville; grandchildren, Sarah, Brittany and Brent West; great grandchildren: Ryan, Tyler and Rylee West.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Lofton King and Ruth Martin King Groom. Betty was a member of the Woodbury 1st Baptist church and was retired after 30 years from Central State where she was an LPN.

Nancy Ann Carrigan
Nancy Ann Carrigan, 76, passed away Tues., Feb. 26, 2019 at NHC – McMinnville. She was a native of Litchfield, CT.
She is survived by her sons, Klaus (Teena) Fischer of McMinnville, Karl (Barbara) Fischer of San Antonio, TX. and Kirt (Julie) Fischer of St. Petersburg, FL.; sister, Joan Adams of New York. 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Charles Benoit and Marrianne Louis King Benoit and her son, Kristopher Fischer.
Ms. Carrigan was a Christian and worked for Klondike and ConMed. She loved music, animals and cooking. Nancy left her family with many great memories.

David Bruce Mullins
Mr. David Bruce Mullins, 47, of Murfreesboro passed away on February 21, 2019. He was born on April 24, 1971 in Murfreesboro, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, David Wilson Mullins.
He is survived by his mother, Judy (Mike) Wilhelm of Murfreesboro; brothers, Rick (Francine) Mullins and Wayne Mullins both of Bradyville; nephews, Tony Halliburton of Murfreesboro, Phillip (Emily) Mullins, and Jared Mullins of Bradyville; great niece and nephews, Summur Halliburton, Landyn and Grayson Halliburton, aunts, Dorothy Mullins Foster and Angie Jeraldine Mullins Allen.
He attended Woodland Elementary School and graduated from Riverdale High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree at MTSU in English and Communications. He worked for Hughes Aeronautics and Walt Disney over the years. He loved listening to music and had a passion for writing fiction short stories for fun.
Services are not planned at this time. Bruce had also struggled with mental illness for many years and hope friends and relatives will understand how important it is to support mental health to understand Bipolar Disorder.
