151st Anniversary Comes To A Close Activities In Murfreesboro Friday

The commemoration of the 151st anniversary of the Battle Of Stones River is coming to a close.  Activities Friday at the Heritage Center 225 West College Street in Murfreesboro will host Stones River National Battlefield Ranger Jim Lewis Friday from 11:30 in the morning till 1 in the afternoon.  Lewis will give a talk at the Heritage Center about the Battle of Stones River followed by a walking tour of the Murfreesboro Public Square.  Bring a lunch for the free lecture and tour.  Call 217-8013 for more details

MTSU Opens Today After Holiday Break

Middle Tennessee State University will reopen Thursday, Jan. 2, after being closed for the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. 
All MTSU offices and departments will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 2.
 
The Campus Recreation Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 2-3. For its spring 2014 hours of operation, visit http://www.mtsu.edu/camprec/springhours.php.

Kick Off 2014 With United Way’s First Annual Community Baby Shower

The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties will host its first annual Community Baby Shower in January of 2014 to benefit at-risk families in Rutherford and Cannon Counties.  
Items needed for the Community Baby Shower include onesies, diapers, bottles, baby wipes, blankets, and/or formula.

The Baby Shower Sort-A-Thon will be held at Holloway High School on January 24, 2014 from 9 AM – 11 AM. Volunteers will assemble care packets for at-risk families to be distributed into the community.
