This Saturday is the Cannon County Chamber of Commerce 13th Annual Color Of Fall Car Show will take place on the square in Woodbury. Over 30 Classes including Best Of Show, Best Original,
Best Street Rod, Best Engine, Best Interior and more. Trophies will be
awarded to the best of and 7 Cash Awards. Goody Bags and Dash Plaques
will be given to the first 100 entries. Car Registration begins at 8:00
AM until 12 noon and judging begins at 10AM until all cars are judged.

DTC Board Of Directors Introduces Craig Gates As CEO
The DTC Board of Directors introduced their new Chief Executive Officer, Craig Gates, at their Annual Meeting held on Saturday, September 17th. Gates is a 27-year veteran of the telecommunications industry.Gates started his career in 1984 and served most recently as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President for Project Mutual; a cooperative located in Rupert, Idaho.
“Craig distinguished himself with his industry experience and expertise. We are fortunate to have him join us, and welcome him and his family to Tennessee,” said Dwight Vinson, President of DTC.
Gates holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Indiana Institute of Technology and a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. He and his wife, Suzette, will be relocating to the area. They have three grown children.
“I’m proud to be at DTC. I look forward to working in the community and ensuring that DTC maintains its commitment to our members,” Gates said. “With the technological and economic challenges that face our industry today, DTC must present itself to be the premier service provider for our members.”
The National Telephone Cooperative Association worked with DTC in conducting the search, in which local, regional, and national candidates were considered.
Angel Food Ministries Halts Distribution Of September Food
The tough economy has effected Angel Food Ministries to the point to where the organization had to halt its food distribution program this month.
full refunds are now being processed to those have already placed orders
for the September distribution according to a statement on the
organization’s website. Intentions are to continue to offer great food at
great prices in the coming months and are considering ways to reorganize
and restructure the ministry,
Normally each month, customers can order food sold at a greatly discounted
rate through local churches which then order it from Angel Food Ministries
or online and drive to the churches once a month to pick it up.
Tennessee Center For Child Welfare Seeks Donations
The Tennessee Center for Child Welfare at MTSU, in conjunction with the Tennessee Foster and Adoptive Care Association, is seeking donations for a
silent auction to benefit the TFACA scholarship fund.
All foster children in Tennessee are eligible to apply to the fund. The
scholarships are used to help defray the cost of sending foster children
to camps where they can enjoy basketball, band, cheerleading and other
activities.
The auction will be held at the TFACA Middle Grand Regional Conference,
which is slated for Saturday, Oct. 1, and Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Franklin
Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin, Tenn. The deadline to make donations is
Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Contributions may be deposited at the Tennessee Center for Child Welfare
office in the Bank of America building in Murfreesboro. For more

Libraries To Allow Extensions Of Book Checkouts
Patrons of the Cannon County Libraries can now renew library books for alittle longer if needed. The Library Board met recently and among the
actions taken was a change in the renewal policies for library books.
Patrons can now renew books for two week extensions of time if no one else
has reserved the book being renewed. Patrons just need to call the
library from where the book was checked out to take advantage of the
extension.
The library staff wishes to thank those that visited the Friends of the
Library rummage and book sale over the weekend. It was a very successful
fundraiser according to the staff
Board Of Directors Re-elected at DTC Meeting
A total of 175 members voted in the Board of Directors Election Saturdayduring the annual meeting of DTC Communications.
Greg Rogers of Woodbury along with Charles Dwight Vinson of Milton and
Terry McPeak of Norene were reelected to the board after running
unopposed.
Rogers received 151 votes, Vinson garnered 159 votes while Mr. McPeak got
152 votes.
Other members of the Board of Directors in Cannon County include Roy Pugh
of Auburntown and David Parker of Woodland.
Auditions Tonight and Tomorrow Night At Arts Center
You won’t believe the mayhem and fun when the Herdmans collide with theChristmas
story head on! One of the best Christmas stories ever and certainly one of
the
funniest.
Actors are sought for the Arts Center’s November production of The Best
Christmas Pageant Ever. There are roles available for children ages 8 and up and
adult roles for both men and women. Directed by Donald Fann and Matt Hunter, this
production will have 2 casts and will include school shows. Production dates are
November 8-19
with rehearsals beginning on October 1st.
Auditions will be held tonight and tomorrow beginning at 6:00PM at The
Arts Center of Cannon County located on 1424 John Bragg Highway, just west of the town of
Woodbury, approximately 20 minutes from Murfreesboro, Manchester and

Blood Drive Results In 50 Donations
The American Red Cross Blood Drive hosted by the Woodbury Lions Club thispast Thursday fell two short of their goal. The Red Cross set a goal of
52 pints for the 6 hour blood drive. 60 people signed in to donate, 10
were deferred and 50 pints were collected. Nicholas Parker made a first
time donation. Kathy Bugg, Ed Brown, William Edens, Darla Cunningham,
Rachel Lehew, Terry Lehew and Timothy Paul donated for their first time at
the Woodbury Lions Club or after an absence of 2 or more years. Patsy
Hirlston and Barbara Daingerfield donated for the 48th time both receiving
a six gallon pin. Brittany Stluka, Erin Higdon and Mary Parkinson donated
their eighth time all receiving a one gallon pin and Howard Witty donated
for his 170th time
The American Red Cross will be back again before the upcoming holidays on
November 17th
Bradyville Resident Wins Gas Card
Faye Crawford of Bradyville TN is getting several tanks of free gasolinefor donating blood with the American Red Cross this summer. Crawford is
the winner of the Labor Day weekend $1000 gas card giveaway. She donated
blood at the Heart Of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross in
Murfreesboro on September 3rd. Ms Crawford stated that she has never won
anything before.
Crawford started donating blood 40 years ago and gives regularly.
UT Extension Office Brings Diabetes Workshops In October
The UT Extension Office will be offering a series of Take Charge OfDiabetes Workshops starting Tuesday October 4th, and continuing each
Tuesday through October and November 1st and 8th.
The Workshops help people that are diagnosed with diabetes to include
techniques to deal with the symptoms of diabetes, fatigue, pain,
hyper/hypoglycemia, stress and emotional problems such as depression,
anger, fear, and frustration.
The meetings will take place from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Cannon
