Carter Creek Road Approval Rescinded From April Meeting

Boyd Barker Chairman of the Cannon County Planning Commission updated the County Commission during their regular monthly meeting Thursday night of the progress of discussions and studies the planning commission has been undergoing in regards to bringing a zoning proposal to the County.  The County Commission has to approve any final plans.  Chairman Barker wants to know if the County Commission wishes the Planning Commission to continue the discussions and studies with the goal of bringing a proposal to the County Commission at a later date.  The County Commission will consider this and may provide a answer at the June meeting.   The Commissioners approved their decision to rescind adding Carter Creek Road as a county road from the April meeting . This matter was held over from the April meeting when a resident on the road stated that the road had been taken off the map because gates had been put on the road. The Cannon County Road Commission approached the Commissioners and went over the procedures and standards for the acceptance and classifications of viewing of existing roads.  For any new or existing roads, an application must be filled out and submitted to the Cannon County Planning Commission and County Highway Department. By procedure, it was asked by the Highway Department for the Commissioners to reconsider their April approval and make the matter go through the proper procedure.
In other actions the County Commission approved the pursuit of a Health Department grant that if awarded will fund the construction of a new building to house the Health Department.  The grant pays 100 percent of the building, the County would have to buy the land to put the building on.  The rough estimate of the land purchase is around $15,000 as the location will be by the new Ambulance Center.
The County Commission also approved a loan for the Solid Waste department, amendments for the Ambulance Service Budget and County General Budget.
