The unemployment rate dropped 0.7 of a point from the 8.3 mark in July to the current 7.6 mark in August. Out of a estimated labor force of 6,610 there are 6,110 people employed while 500 are unemployed. According to figures released last week from the state Cannon showed a 9.2 percent rate in August of 2011. Neighboring counties unemployment rates show Rutherford at 7.0. Dekalb at 8.2,.
